United Music Spotlight

Write for us

We welcome original pitches that help readers hear or understand music in a new way, whether the starting point is a song form, an instrument, a recording choice or a listening custom.

What we welcome

Propose a focused explainer, comparison, historical account, myth-check or listening exercise. Good ideas make one clear point, use examples responsibly and give readers something concrete to notice or consider without requiring specialist equipment or training.

A useful pitch

Tell us the working title, the central question, the intended category and the main takeaway. Include a short outline, explain why the subject suits curious general readers, and note any sources or firsthand experience the piece would rely on. Do not send a complete article unless requested.

Original work and review

Pitches should be original, carefully sourced where they make factual claims, and clear about the difference between observation and opinion. We may suggest changes to scope, structure or wording; sending a pitch does not guarantee publication.

Where to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page using the editorial question option. Include enough detail for us to understand the idea, but do not send sensitive personal information or material you do not have permission to share.
